Andy Jones grew up in Sandy, Utah and started diving with friends at Alta Canyon Recreation Center when he was about ten. He joined Mike Tuckfield’s Sandy-based Tuck Diving School when he was in High School. The Jordan High School Beetdiggers did not have a diving team, but as a senior Andy and his mother, Barbara convinced Jordan’s Vice Principal to create a team of one (Andy) to compete in the State diving competition the following day. Andy took sixth.
Andy was a walk-on to the University of Utah swimming and diving team in 2003, winning the Mike Wallace Memorial, Most Improved Award as a freshman. He graduated in 2007 and was the Diver of the Year as a senior. Andy began doing exhibition dives from higher heights immediately after graduation. He made two trips to Saudi Arabia and spent a summer diving in a show at Myrtle Beach. During a break in exhibitions he got a call from Cirque de Soleil asking about his availability. He was available.
Andy joined the “O” Show in Las Vegas in April, 2009 and starred in their production until 2014, when he left to pursue other options. He was fascinated by the opportunity to tour the world with Red Bull and attracted by stunt work and movie production. He now lives in Santa Monica with his wife Alena.
